Plateforme NAHAN. NAHAN (North African Heritage Archives Network) est un réseau d’institutions européennes et nord-africaines possédant des documents d’archives sur le patrimoine et les sites archéologiques d’Afrique du Nord, sous l’égide de l’ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property / UNESCO). Son objectif est de rassembler virtuellement, de façon centralisée et mutualisée, des fonds d’archives nativement numériques ou numérisés, conservés par chaque institution (Source : consortium Huma-Num DISTAM / DIgital STudies Africa, Asia, Middle East).
Palestine, soulèvements cinématographiques : une programmation à retrouver sur Tenk. Cette programmation tente de déplacer le regard sur des images médiatiques qui ont tendance à représenter les Palestinien·nes selon le seul prisme de l’urgence, de la violence et du « conflit ». À travers le regard de ces cinéastes, cette programmation ouvre un espace d’écoute et de réflexion pour (ré)humaniser une société meurtrie et parler de la Palestine autrement, alors qu’une armée occupante tente d’effacer un territoire, un peuple, une histoire. Project: Dabīrān. Dabīrān is a research project focused on studying the scientific and philosophical traditions of the Islamic world through the prism of medieval manuscripts. The project is named after Najm al-Dīn Dabīrān al-Kātibī al-Qazwīnī (d. 675/1276), author of one of the most widely studied works on logic of the medieval period: al-Risāla al-shamsiyya. Our digital infrastructure facilitates various kinds of research, from the basic work of organizing, reading, and digitally transcribing manuscripts; to capturing historical and scientific data from manuscripts; to publishing and disseminating the project’s outputs in the form of scholarly editions, translations, and intellectual-historical research.Dabīrān comprises four active projects.
Writer, scholar, teacher, and editor Layla Azmi Goushey recently launched a new online literary magazine. It’s called Baladi, and it’s available at baladimagazine.com. The project started at the end of 2020, she said, when she contacted Aya Ghanameh about creating a banner for the site. “I had an image of Jaffa’s harbor that I liked,” Azmi Goushey said, “and I wanted something that displayed some whimsy along with the idea of the past, present, and future. The motto I developed for Baladi is Exploring the Past, Engaging the Present, and Imagining the Future.” The site has a focus on the speculative, and on conversations with authors, featuring talks with authors like Mohammed Said Hjiouij (Kafka in Tangier), PL Stewart (Drowned Kingdom Saga), Marguerite Dabaie (The Hookah Girl and Other True Stories), Lena Mubsutina (Amreekiya) and others, as well as poetry, art, and short fiction in English and in Arabic. Launch of "Country of Words: A Transnational Atlas for Palestinian Literature". On October 17 2023, Stanford University Press published Refqa Abu-Remaileh's "Country of Words: A Transnational Atlas for Palestinian Literature". The project, made available through the press's "Stanford Digital Projects" imprint, is an "an interactive digital archive that allows us to retrace and remap the global story of Palestinian literature in the twentieth century, starting from the Arab world, and going through Europe, North America, and Latin America.". The site is dense and some pages take a while to load, so visitors on slow connections will need a little patience.
Association Jocelyne Saab - Protéger. Restaurer. Valoriser. L’Association Jocelyne Saab est une association à but non lucratif animée par des bénévoles qui a pour objectif de valoriser le patrimoine artistique de la franco-libanaise Jocelyne Saab (1948-2019), de participer à sa restauration et à sa large diffusion. Jocelyne Saab était une réalisatrice franco-libanaise, principalement connue pour ses documentaires au sujet de la guerre civile libanaise. Elle est considérée comme une pionnière du cinéma arabe, et a construit une œuvre monumentale comprenant 47 films et 6 séries photographiques. Principalement produits pour la télévision, ses films documentaires étaient, avant sa mort le 7 janvier 2019, surtout connus par la diaspora libanaise qui avait accès à ses films diffusés à la télévision pendant la guerre.
Project: Middle Eastern Manuscript Traditions (MEMaT). Middle Eastern Manuscript Traditions (MEMaT) is a multidisciplinary project which aims at studying various aspects of manuscript production, utilization, and transmission history. The project is a collaboration between Sabine Schmidtke (IAS) and George A. Kiraz (IAS and Beth Mardutho). It brings together specialists with expertise in a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The activities are focused on holding workshops and publishing books on the topic.

LEILA, un site Internet pour la littérature arabe en Europe. Financé par le programme de l'Union européenne Europe Créative, conçu et mis en œuvre par iReMMO, en partenariat avec ATLAS – Association pour la promotion de la traduction littéraire, BOZAR / Chaire Mahmoud Darwish, et la Fédération Tunisienne des Éditeurs, LEILA veut rendre visible la nouvelle scène littéraire arabophone en Europe avec une sélection de livres et d'auteurs à destination des éditeurs européens mais aussi du grand public. Un site web (en anglais) a été créé, rassemblant des informations et des ressources ciblées sur la littérature arabe en Europe et offrant des clés pour comprendre le marché du livre arabe et les nouvelles écritures qui ont émergé après les Printemps Arabes.

Leiden University Libraries | Digital Collections - Earliest Middle Eastern Manuscript Collections in Leiden Now Available in Open Access. "Several of the most important manuscript collections in the Leiden University Libraries (UBL) Special Collections, comprising 443 extremely rare and often unique volumes, have been made available in Open Access via Digital Collections. The available manuscript collections include the private collections of some of the earliest Leiden scholars of Middle Eastern languages, such as Josephus Scaliger, Franciscus Raphelengius and Jacobus Golius, as well as the Ottoman Turkish manuscripts acquired by Levinus Warner in Istanbul between 1645 and 1665".
ARABIC DESIGN ARCHIVE (ADA): ADA is a non-profit initiative that seeks to enable knowledge production about Arabic design and its history through a framework of collecting, digitizing, and exhibiting. ADA aims to provide an open and accessible platform for the public to counter the parallel, inaccessible, and non-existent physical archive of the second half of the 20th century.

Corpus iconographique des missions archéologiques Henry Viollet au Moyen-Orient. Mise en ligne d’un corpus de 920 vues photographiques réalisées entre 1906 et 1913, majoritairement de sites archéologiques islamiques situées en Syrie, Irak et Iran, cette publication est le résultat d’une résidence de recherche accueillie par la BULAC dans le cadre de l’activité du GIS CollEx-Persée avec la participation du Centre de recherche sur le monde iranien (Martina Massullo, Farzaneh Zareie, Sandra Aube, Benjamin Guichard). L’outil libre de gestion des chaînes de numérisation NumaHOP a été expérimenté dans ce cadre pour un travail collaboratif d’enrichissement des notices avant leur publication, mobilisant un réseau international de chercheurs. Nuṣūṣ: a Corpus of Digitally Neglected Texts. Nuṣūṣ is a corpus of digitized Arabic texts designed to fill gaps in extant digital corpora. Originally a collection of early Sufi and Sufi-adjacent texts, nuṣūṣ has since expanded to include early works on kalām, falsafa, and Christian theology. Through this website, users can: browse text metadata, including author biographies; read these works online; and, most importantly, search the contents of texts in the corpus. Soon, the digitized versions of these texts will be made available to download for individuals to use for computational textual analysis or other interests.
kotobli: A Book-discoverability Platform Aiming to ‘Showcase Arabic Books’. "kotobli is a book-discoverability platform (like Goodreads and The Story Graph) that specifically targets Arab readers and the Arab literary world, from publishers to authors, translators, and illustrators. For the most part, finding a good recommendation in English for general tropes and topics is achievable on the internet. However, finding good recommendations about Arabic-speaking countries, or SWANA more generally, is trickier; top search results usually bring up Western publishers or authors, and local book creators are underrepresented. Even more, discovering recent releases or republished backlists or out of print books in Arabic is much more difficult, mostly because there are no websites or databases that have these resources presented in a contextualized way for anyone interested in Arabic fiction or nonfiction". The Historical Index of the Medieval Middle East is a reference work to expand both scholarly and educated public understanding of a critical period of human history. HIMME provides search and browse interfaces for accessing tens of thousands of entries about medieval Middle Eastern people, places, and cultural practices (such as Qur’an recitation, funderals, or taxation). Bibliographie sur le massacre du 17 octobre 1961 : à l’occasion du 61ème anniversaire du massacre du 17 octobre 1961, l’équipe d’Ancrages à choisi de vous faire découvrir les ressources disponibles à la bibliothèque de l’association et sur internet, afin de mieux comprendre cet événement encore mal connu. Ce jour-là, près de 20 000 à 30 000 algériennes venues d’Aubervilliers, de Nanterre, de Colombes, de Courbevoie ou bien de Saint-Denis se dirigent vers les beaux quartiers parisiens. Le couvre-feu, institué le 5 octobre par le préfet de police, vise à limiter les attaques du FLN envers les policiers français, en nette augmentation depuis quelques mois. Le rassemblement pacifiste, réunissant hommes, femmes et enfants, est rapidement et férocement réprimé par la police française. En quelques minutes, c’est un véritable bain de sang : les manifestants sont raflés, battus à mort, pendus et jetés à la Seine par les fonctionnaires de police. Le lendemain et les jours suivants, la repêche de plusieurs dizaines de macabres permet de prendre la mesure de la répression.
New resource. Manuscripts of the Islamicate World and South Asia at the University of Edinburgh Library: entries for 168 of their 700 holdings, with titles digitally searchable in Arabic and Latin script.
Resource: The Zamani Project. Zamani Project undertakes data collection and analysis, heritage communication, and training and capacity building for experts and the public so that they have access to high-quality spatial heritage data, and can learn from, conserve, and protect heritage. Over the past 15 years, in collaboration with significant international heritage organisations such as UNESCO and the World Monuments Fund, the Zamani team has documented more than 250 structures, rock art sites and statues at some 65 heritage sites in 18 countries across Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Operating as a research group within the University of Cape Town (UCT), we collect and analyse heritage data, communicate the importance of heritage, and enable experts and the public alike to access, learn from, conserve, and protect heritage.
Qalamos – Connecting Manuscript Traditions. Qalamos is the portal for manuscripts and block prints from Asian and African script traditions. It contains approximately 150,000 datasets describing 110,000 physical objects written in 162 languages and 81 scripts (as of June 2022). Qalamos aims at providing metadata and digitised copies of all collections kept in German memory institutions. In addition, the portal will also include holdings of international cooperation partners. The portal is being developed as part of the DFG project "Orient-Digital".
Princeton Geniza Lab. Since 1986, the Princeton Geniza Lab has been studying and digitizing historical documents from the Cairo Geniza, a cache of roughly 400,000 fragments of paper and parchment preserved in a medieval Egyptian synagogue. The lab’s work consists of research, transcription and database design.

The fully bilingual (English–Arabic) platform is entirely devoted to the history of modern Palestine, from the end of the Ottoman era to the present.
Open Access Database: Digital Archive for the Study of pre-Islamic Arabian Inscriptions. DASI seeks to gather all known pre-Islamic Arabian epigraphic material into a comprehensive online database, with the aim to make available to specialists and to the broader public a wide array of documents often underestimated because of their difficulty of access. DASI project was funded by the European Community within the Seventh Framework Programme “Ideas”, through an ERC – Advanced Grant awarded to Prof. Alessandra Avanzini at the University of Pisa (2011-2016). The Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, additional participant of the project, was responsible for the technical development of the archive, which is now maintained at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Rome.
Ouverture de la base de données MIGRalect.org - Parlers en migration, langues aux frontières. Les pratiques langagières restituent les dimensions culturelles, sociologiques, politiques, poétiques des parcours de migration. Elles constituent des migralectes qui empruntent à différentes langues (maternelles, tierces, administratives, de la violence ou de la solidarité). Ces migralectes sont co-construits par différentes catégories d’acteurs : les exilés au premier chef, mais aussi les membres associatifs, militants ou de l’administration. MIGRalect.org est ainsi le nom donné au site rassemblant les parlers de la migration relevés dans les camps, campements et centres d’accueil et d’hébergement des demandeurs d’asile entre 2016 et 2021. Des lexiques spécifiques ont été créés pour cinq des principales langues rencontrées sur le terrain des migrations (lexiques persan (FA), pashto (PS), ourdou (UR), tigrinya (TI), arabe (AR) avec différentes variantes) et pour le lexique MIGR qui les rassemble. À ces lexiques correspond la LINGUA FRANCA - TOUS indiquant les mots passés dans l’usage commun de toutes les langues, par exemple “dougar” issu de l’arabe soudanais désigne tous les ralentissements de véhicules à Calais.
Récits d’Algérie. Mémoires de la guerre d'indépendance, racontée des deux côtés de la Méditerranée est "un projet collaboratif et intergénérationnel né de la volonté de collecter les mémoires de nos aînés au sujet de la guerre d’indépendance algérienne, de la colonisation à l’indépendance. La parole de ceux qui ont vécu ces évènements se faisant désormais rare, il est devenu nécessaire de réaliser ce devoir de mémoire. Pour certains ce sont nos parents, nos grand-parents, nos tantes, nos oncles…Nous côtoyons ces générations, et il est désormais temps de rendre hommage à leur vécu, en faisant sortir leurs récits des foyers. C’est vouloir dire enfin ce passé commun issu de la présence française en Algérie et, surtout, c’est vouloir transmettre la mémoire de nos aînés".

Le Ministère de la Jeunesse, de la Culture et de la Communication du Maroc, l’Ambassade de France au Maroc et le Centre Jacques Berque ont le plaisir d’annoncer la sortie de l’application mobile « La Route des Empires ». Cette application propose pour la première fois une expérience immersive dans des sites archéologiques du Moyen Âge marocain. Une application évolutive qui sera bientôt disponible en arabe et en amazigh !

Le Lexique vivant de la révolution et de la guerre en Syrie inaugure son site : https://syria-lexicon.pubpub.org/
Présentation : slogans, chants, banderoles, graffitis, pancartes : la révolution syrienne de mars 2011 a été un moment de prise de parole inédit et de reconquête graphique de l’espace public. Des mots écrits et scandés, parfois hurlés et chantés ont en quelque sorte cristallisé des souffrances, des espérances, des déceptions et des indignations. Le lexique vivant de la révolution et de la guerre en Syrie vise à documenter cette dynamique linguistique qui se poursuit depuis lors. Il s’agit d’identifier des mots, de tracer leur évolution sémantique et, à terme, de faire émerger des concepts et/ou des catégories permettant de rendre compte d’une réalité socio-politique éminemment complexe, et ce en étant attentifs aux points de vue et aux usages émiques. Ces mots, souvent chargés de connotations sociales, politiques, religieuses et psychiques, changent parfois de sens en fonction des locuteurs, de leurs appartenances et de leur positionnement politique, mais aussi en fonction des moments et des lieux. Ils constituent également un terrain de subversion et de récupération. C’est toute cette diversité de formes et d'usages que le lexique vivant de la révolution et de la guerre en Syrie souhaite donner à lire avec une attention particulière à la collecte, la citabilité et la préservation des sources numériques. Mémoire créative de la révolution syrienne. La révolution syrienne a créé un espace de création si important qu’il nous a surpris, nous les Syriens, avant même de toucher le monde entier. Nous nous sommes demandés où se cachaient tous ces talents créatifs, artistiques et satiriques. L’expansion de la révolte contre l’oppression et la tyrannie a provoqué une montée en puissance de ces énergies latentes remarquables, qu’elles soient spontanées ou organisées, d’une manière jamais connue auparavant par le peuple syrien pendant toutes les années marquées par la répression et l’injustice. L’histoire de l’humanité est riche d’expériences similaires. Ce projet vise à documenter et archiver toutes les formes d’expression libre, artistique et culturelle en temps de révolution et de guerre. Il s’agit d’écrire, enregistrer, documenter, rassembler les histoires du peuple syrien, par lesquelles il a pu retrouvé le sens de son existence sociale, politique et culturelle, et a pu reprendre possession de l’espace public, de pratiquer et d’expérimenter l’acte et la responsabilité de lui appartenir.
Crafts of Iraq is a companion to the Crafts of Syria website (craftsofsyria@uvic.ca), which has been online since 2018. The Crafts of Iraq site contains information about craft activities in cities, towns, and rural areas across Iraq, drawn from primary texts, archaeological and ethnographic publications, historical photographs, online sources, and signatures on objects, buildings and manuscripts. Entries cover a period from the seventh century to the present day. The site also comprises a glossary of technical terms, timeline, and other research supports. HMML Authority File (HAF). The Hill Museum and Manuscript Library is pleased to announce the completion of the cataloging of the Arabic-script manuscripts microfilmed by HMML during the 1960s and 1970s at the Austrian National Library. The newly cataloged records have been added online. Among its massive collections, the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek holds several thousand manuscripts in Arabic script, primarily Islamic with a few Christian items. Over 3,200 of these were photographed and microfilmed by HMML in 1971 and are now fully cataloged in HMML’s online Reading Room. They include over a thousand manuscripts each in Arabic and Ottoman Turkish (alongside Chagatai and other Turkic languages and dialects), over 500 in Persian, a few in Urdu, and one each in Bosnian and Albanian.
Ottoman History Podcast, a podcast about the Ottoman Empire, the modern Middle East, and the Islamic world. "Ottoman History Podcast began in March of 2011. It was a modest experiment aimed at finding an alternative form of academic production that explores new and more accessible media and allows for a collaborative approach. Since then we have grown to be one of the largest digital resources for academic discussion concerning the Ottoman Empire and the modern Middle East. Over the years, our project has incorporated contributions big and small from hundreds of colleagues. Our recorded interviews and lectures, while still largely academic in tone, provide scholarly conversation accessible to a wider public audience".
World Pilgrimage Guide: A GIS mapping project featuring historical pilgrimage sites. Martin Gray is a cultural anthropologist, writer and photographer specializing in the study and documentation of pilgrimage places around the world. During a 38 year period he has visited more than 1500 sacred sites in 165 countries. The World Pilgrimage Guide web site is the most comprehensive source of information on this subject.
Islamic History Geodata Initiative.The Islamic History Geodata Initiative (ihGeo) seeks to stimulate scholarship on the role of places and spaces in the history of the Middle East during the Islamic period. Established by a research unit at the University of Tübingen, it provides a forum for international exchange and envisages collaborative projects in the Spatial Humanities. Another aim is to develop novel research tools for use in the public domain.Learn about the endeavour of ihGeo to link history, geoinformatics, and cartography for a new understanding of how the region’s societies have been geared to the making and re-making of human landscapes. The Khalili Hajj and the Arts of Pilgrimage collection: This collection contains approximately 4500 objects spanning 1400 years of Islamic history and includes a huge range of objects which provide a comprehensive overview of Hajj; illustrating its religious, spiritual, cultural and artistic aspects. The collection represents several key aspects of hajj. This includes important textiles associated with Mecca and Medina, the representation of the holy cities in manuscripts, paintings, scientific intruments, and early copies of the Holy Qur’an. This collection also holds important archival material such as the daily ledgers from the Dar al-Kiswah, a textile workshop in Cairo responsible for many of the textiles presented to Mecca and Medina and photographs of the master embroiderers who worked there, Khalili Collections website.
Biblia Arabica. The Bible in Arabic among Jews, Christians and Muslims: "Shortly after the expansion of Muslim rule in the 7th and 8th centuries CE, Christians, Jews, and Samaritans living in the Muslim world began to translate their sacred texts—the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament and the Samaritan Pentateuch—into the new dominant language of the time: Arabic. Many of these translations, from languages such as Hebrew, Greek, Syriac and Coptic, have survived and have come down to us in a vast corpus of manuscripts and fragments that hail from monasteries, synagogues and libraries, especially in the Middle East. Manuscripts containing Arabic Bible translations constitute the most central record of Jewish and Christian cultural heritage in the Near East, with a transcommunal and transnational importance". Biblia Arabica serves as a research consortium, bringing together different scholars interested in the field of the Arabic Bible. The groundwork was laid by the research project “Biblia Arabica: The Bible in Arabic among Jews, Christians and Muslims,” initially conceived by researchers from Freie Universität Berlin and Tel Aviv University. It was granted funding from DFG DIP grants (“Deutsch-Israelische Projektkooperation”) in 2012 and became the first project in the humanities ever to receive this prestigious grant. The project was lead by Camilla Adang and Meira Polliack of Tel Aviv University, on the Israeli side, and Sabine Schmidtke (then Freie Universität Berlin and now Princeton University) until 2015 and Andreas Kaplony and Ronny Vollandt of the LMU Munich from 2015 onwards. Most of the outcomes of Biblia Arabica have been or will be published in the book series Biblia Arabica: Texts and Studies, published by Brill in Leiden and edited by an international team of six scholars.

La cartothèque du CEDEJ est unique en Égypte avec un fond de cartes cadastrales, topographiques et géographiques qui couvre toute l’Égypte allant de l’échelle 1/500è à la carte 1/1 000 000è. Les plus anciennes cartes datent de la fin du XIXème siècle (carte des assurances du centre-ville du Caire) et les plus récentes de la fin des années 1990 (la série 1/50 000ème qui couvre le Delta et la vallée du Nil). Ces cartes et plans sont utiles pour : les études de terrain, l'intégration dans les dossiers ou mémoires de master ou de thèse, la comparaison entre différentes dates etc.
Afin de faciliter la consultation de cette cartothèque, le CEDEJ est ravi d’annoncer la mise en ligne d’un catalogue ergonomique, dynamique et interactif permettant l’accès, l’extraction et l’exploration de données textuelles et géo-référencées cedejcarto.org.
Ce travail a été réalisé dans le cadre de la science ouverte. New Resource - Khamseen: Islamic Art History Online is a free and open-access online platform of digital resources to aid the teaching of Islamic art, architecture, and visual culture. It has received financial support from the Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum (DISC) at the University of Michigan through a grant by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Khamseen is spearheaded by Christiane Gruber, Professor of Islamic art at the University of Michigan. The seeds of the project were sown in early 2020, when she and several students began to discuss ways to make Islamic art history more widely accessible online. With the subsequent outbreak of COVID-19 in spring 2020, the need for reliable scholarly materials became more clear and pressing. In the spirit of change, our initiative was named after the seasonal khamsin winds, and our Arabic-script Khamseen logo includes the abstract design of a wind-catcher (badgir).

Open Access Manuscripts Collection: AMBULO - Arabic Manuscripts in the Bologna University Library Online. Project of the King 'Abdulaziz Chair for Islamic Studies - University of Bologna (Italy). "The Bologna University Library hosts 450 Arabic manuscripts *, now digitalized, belonging to the collection of Luigi Ferdinando Marsili (1658-1730). The codices are in Arabic, rarely including Turkish texts, and date between the 13th and the second half of 17th century (a.D.). Their focuses are: astronomy, religion, law, grammar, lexicography, metrics, geography, medicine, biographical dictionaries and Korans, while numerous works are miscellaneous. The manuscripts were collected during Marsili’s travels in Turkey, between 1679 and 1692, and during the First Siege of Buda in 1684." (Source : AMIR)

Wikilala is a digital library that allows "research" in Ottoman texts (newspapers, magazines, books and documents) printed after the invention of the printing press. There is currently no library that allows the curious or academic researchers to make research in Ottoman texts in Latin script. Until the age of digital printing, researchers had to scan pages and even read line by line to find what they are looking for in Ottoman texts. However, thanks to Wikilala, they can reach all the titles and content they are looking for with a single move in fractions of a second.

OA Resource: Kanaan (Gaza, Palestine). "Nisma al-Sallaq, a local architect and a passionate advocate for the Palestinian enclave’s cultural history, set out to change that. Along with a growing team, al-Sallaq, 27, set up Gaza’s first digital archive of historical buildings and heritage sites when she launched a multi-dimensional platform called Kanaan in 2019. With a website, mobile application and Instagram page, the project provides visitors with information in text and video format in English and Arabic, and offers a virtual tour of Gaza’s centuries-old cultural history. Following an agreement with the publishers in 2009, the ULB Halle started digitizing out of print titles belonging to the series and made them available as Open Access titles in its repository MENAdoc.

New release and new website: Thesaurus d’Epigraphie Islamique, Edition 2020. Conceived and directed by Ludvik Kalus, co-directed by Frédéric Bauden, developed by Frédérique Soudan. "This project aims to bring together all the Arabic, Persian, and Turkish (or even in other languages) inscriptions of the Muslim world until the year 1000 AH, that is to say, the period usually identified as the Middle Ages. The collection and computerization of the inscriptions began in the late 1980s, the whole Muslim world now being covered. Currently, the database contains some 49,500 cards that critically present the text of the inscriptions already published, while certain texts are presented for the first time. Inscriptions known to exist because they are mentioned in publications of all kinds are also taken into consideration. Many of the inscriptions are illustrated with photographs from the Max van Berchem Foundation Photo Library as well as from other collections. It is also now possible to consult the website in English (however the contents of the cards remain in French)."
New OA Project: Medieval and Early Modern Orients (MEMOs) is an AHRC-funded project that seeks to further knowledge and understanding of the early interactions between England and the Islamic worlds.
